  Child Road Casualties in Wales

 

In 2014 , no children were killed, 122 seriously injured and 679 slightly injured on Welsh roads.

 

Of the killed and seriously injured (KSI) casualties:

    • 73 were pedestrians
    • 14 were cyclists
    • 35 were vehicle passengers
    • 64% of KSI child casualties were boys; 36% were girls


 

In 2013 , 1 child was killed, 96 seriously injured and 680 slightly injured on Welsh roads.

 

Of the killed and seriously injured (KSI) casualties:

    • 63 were pedestrians
    • 16 were cyclists
    • 18 were vehicle passengers
    • 66% of KSI child casualties were boys; 34% were girls


 

In 2012 , 4 children were killed, 88 seriously injured and 726 slightly injured on Welsh roads.

 

    • 295 of the casualties were pedestrians (36%)
    • 73 cyclists (9%)
    • 450 vehicle passengers (55%)
    • 54.5% of child casualties were boys; 45.5% girls

 


In 2011, 6 children were killed, 126 seriously injured and 877 slightly injured

  • 295 of casualties were pedestrians (36%)
  • 115 of casualties were cyclists (12%)
  • 449 vehicle passengers (49%)
  • 54.5% of child casualties were boys, 45.5% girls


In 2010, 4 children were killed, 104 seriously injured and 918 slightly injured on Welsh roads.

    • 383 of the casualties were pedestrians (37%)
    • 112 cyclists (11%)
    • 531 vehicle passengers (52%)
    • 55.4% of child casualties were boys 44.6% girls


In 2009,  5 children were killed,  143 seriously injured and  1,056 slightly injured on Welsh roads.

    • 344 of the casualties were pedestrians (34%)
    •  109 cyclists (11%)
    •  556 vehicle passengers (55%)
    • 53.5% of child casualties were boys 46.5% girls


In 2008, 4 children were killed, 111 seriously injured and 989 slightly injured on Welsh roads.

    • 426 of the casualties were pedestrians (39%)
    • 113 cyclists (10%)
    • 565 vehicle passengers (51%)
    • 55% of child casualties were boys 45% girls

 


 

In 2007, 5 children were killed, 143 seriously injured and 1056 slightly injured on Welsh roads.

    • 414 of the casualties were pedestrians (34%)
    • 155 cyclists (13%)
    • 635 vehicle passengers (53%)

In 2006, 10 children were killed, 134 seriously injured and 1153 slightly injured on Welsh roads.

    • 434 of the casualties were pedestrians (33%)
    • 152 cyclists (12%)
    • 711 vehicle passengers (55%)
    • 54% of child casualties were boys 46% girls


 

In 2005, 7 children were killed, 128 seriously injured and 1260 slightly injured on Welsh roads.

  •     501 of the casualties were pedestrians (36%) 
  •     164 cyclists (12%)

In 2004, 9 children were killed, 161 seriously injured and 1375 slightly injured on Welsh roads.

  •     549 of the casualties were pedestrians (36%)

  •     57.5% of child casualties were boys 42.5% girls


In 2003, 13 children were killed, 179 seriously injured and 1537 slightly injured on Welsh roads.

  •     593 of the casualties were pedestrians (34%) 
  •     225 cyclists (13%)
  •     911 vehicle passengers (53%)
