The City and County of Swansea’s Junior Road Safety Officers Club has now been running for 7 years. At present, we have over 40 primary schools in the Swansea area, who are members of the scheme, with more schools wishing to join for 2007/8.
There is a new look to Swansea JRSOs, with the launch of a “cool” street wise uniform. The JRSOs will be given a baseball cap, satchel and t-shirt. All the uniform will be branded with JRSO in the style of the New York Police Department (N.Y.P.D).

In the last JRSO seminar held at the Scout & Guide HQ in Brynmill Swansea, the JRSO’s took part in 4 different sets:
PC Ken Bowen and PC Dawn Mort encouraged the JRSOs to use their brains and found out how much they really knew about Road Safety.
SRTS Allison and RSO Amanda, gave the groups different Road Safety scenarios from which they had to produce 5 minute sketches, which were performed in front of the Lord Mayor at the end of the day.
- Road Safety T-Shirt Design / Printing
RSO Ashleigh worked with the JRSO’s designing and printing T-shirts with their very own Road Safety message and logo on them.
- Cycle Helmet design / making for Rocky the Road Safety Rooster
During this set, the JRSOs worked with SCP Supervisor Jo and SRTS Khan on designing and making a bicycle helmet for the Road Safety Teams mascot, Rocky the Road Safety Rooster. They used papier mache and paint to make the helmet – Rocky looked smart and safe!
